The Brave Line | FAQ Section
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and that’s completely okay. Here you’ll find thoughtful answers about what to expect, how sessions work, and what it means to begin this process at The Brave Line. My hope is that these responses offer clarity, reassurance, and a reminder that your story is always welcome here.

Do you accept insurance, or are sessions self-pay?
At this time, I am a self-pay practice, which means I do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to work together without the limitations often set by insurance companies, ensuring your treatment stays fully confidential and tailored to your goals.
I’m happy to discuss financial circumstances and adjust session cost on a sliding scale process. Please reach out to discuss your specific needs!

My spouse works in emergency services (EMT, firefighter, law enforcement). Can I still receive services as their partner?
Yes — absolutely. I regularly work with both first responders and non-first responders and their family members. Confidentiality and professional boundaries are always upheld, and I take special care to ensure no overlap in client systems when working with families in service professions. If there’s ever a potential conflict of interest, I’ll help connect you with a trusted colleague to make sure everyone receives the best support possible.

What can I expect in our first session?
Our first session is about getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what brings you here. We’ll talk through your history, what’s been working (and what hasn’t), and set the foundation for your therapy journey. It’s less about “fixing” and more about understanding — this is your space to take a breath and begin to reconnect with yourself.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Currently, I offer both in person and telehealth (virtual) sessions to clients. My telehealth sessions are available to all Texas residents. My office is located East of Houston, TX.

What therapy approaches do you use?
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and experiential. I often integrate Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative-based work, depending on your needs. In simpler terms — therapy with me is less about “fixing” you and more about helping all the parts of you find safety and connection again.

I’m not sure if therapy is right for me right now. Can we talk first?
Of course! I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you decide if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure — just a chance for us to connect and see what support might look like for you.
