therapy at the brave line

You can know exactly why you feel this way and still not know how to change it.

Maybe you’ve already spent a lot of time trying to understand yourself. You know where the patterns came from. You can name the coping skills. You might even know exactly what you “should” be doing differently.

And yet, something still feels stuck.

Therapy at The Brave Line goes beyond understanding the story. Together, we make space for the emotions, relationships, protective patterns, and nervous system responses that often live underneath it.

there does not have to be a crisis

Sometimes you just know something isn’t working anymore.

You might find yourself…

  • functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed underneath

  • repeating relationship patterns you promised yourself you wouldn’t repeat

  • understanding your trauma intellectually but still feeling it in your body

  • shutting down, getting angry, or pulling away when things feel too close

  • taking care of everyone else while struggling to know what you need

  • feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure who you are outside of the roles you carry

  • grieving a person, relationship, identity, career, or version of life you thought you would have

  • wanting things to change without knowing exactly what needs to change

You don't need the perfect explanation for why you're here.

more than talking about what happened

Your patterns make sense somewhere.

The ways you respond to stress, conflict, closeness, loss, fear, or uncertainty didn’t develop randomly.

Somewhere along the way, your mind and body learned what helped you stay connected, protected, functional, or safe.

Therapy isn’t about judging those responses or ripping away the things that helped you survive. We get curious about them.

What is this protecting?
When did this become necessary?
What happens in your body when it shows up?
And does it still have to work this hard today?

inside the room

We don't have to spend 50 minutes sitting across from each other analyzing your week.

Some sessions may involve conversation and reflection. Others may involve noticing what is happening in your body, slowing down around an emotion, exploring different parts of yourself, working with an attachment pattern, or processing something that feels difficult to access through words alone.

You may laugh. You may cry. You may sit quietly for a while. You may realize the thing you thought we were going to talk about isn’t actually the thing that needs our attention that day.

Therapy is allowed to be responsive to you.

the relationship matters too

Therapy happens between two humans.

I don't believe therapy requires me to become a blank wall sitting across from you.

I'll be curious. I'll reflect things I notice. I'll challenge you when it feels useful. I'll celebrate with you. And when something happens between us in the room, we can talk about that too.

For many people, therapy becomes a place to experience something different relationally — having boundaries without abandonment, disagreement without disconnection, vulnerability without having to take care of the other person or simply being seen without having to perform.

The therapeutic relationship isn't separate from the work. Sometimes, it becomes part of the work.

You remain in control of your own story.

Being trauma-informed isn't simply about knowing how trauma affects the brain. It means I care about how we do therapy just as much as what we talk about.

You don't have to disclose something before you're ready. You don't have to push through an experience because it seems like the therapeutic thing to do. And you don't have to prove that something was “bad enough” to deserve space.

We'll pay attention to pacing, consent, your nervous system, and what feels manageable as we work

The goal isn't to see how much you can tolerate.
It's to create enough safety that something different becomes possible.

healing doesn't mean nothing affects you

The goal is not to never get activated again.

It's having more choice when you are. More capacity to notice what is happening before automatically reacting. More ability to stay connected to yourself while being connected to someone else. More room between what happened to you and what happens next.

ready when you are

You don't need to know exactly what we would work on before reaching out.

Finding the right therapist matters. That's why I offer a free consultation where we can talk about what brings you here, what you're looking for, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
